So things are in full swing for us. We FINALLY sent out our invitations this past weekend. There are a few more that we have to make out and drop in the mail but we are done with that part. Now we just have to wait for the RSVP's to come filtering back. Maggie also had the first of two bridal showers. The next one is in a couple of weeks. Other than that we have been working on what little details that we can work on now to save us time and stress come April.
As for the non-wedding updates:
Maggie has started in her new builiding with work and is traveling almost every other week until about end of March or so.
Bryon has started classes in his new building and is not doing too bad so far. He has about 4 more weeks before his confirmation in the Catholic church.
And Roxie has been full of energy and semi-obnoxious lately...in other words, normal for her.

State of the Wedding Address during the State of the Union
Our fellow blogreaders...as we sit here before you with the State of the Union address on in the background, we feel compelled to update you all on things since the Holidays. On the topic of wedding invitations...they are done and are ready to be put together, addressed and mailed. It took a few evenings and several trips to Joann Fabric, but we were able to succeed in conquering this cunning foe without excessive spending and loss of life. During this skirmish, we also saw the completion of our search for a unity candle after several months of sifting through intelligence and sending out numerous patrols in strategic locations. There were some decoys, but in the end, the elusive candle could not escape the determination of our forces.
Right now, we are concentrating on numerous meetings with committee members to ensure that there is bipartisan support for the wedding agenda and the grand gala set for later this spring. Our meeting with the church committee will set the precedence for our meeting with the music committee so that we can come up with a plan that will catch the attention of our constituants. There will also be a few more meetings with the parent committee to discuss the upcoming Decoration Act and to finalize the details of the Wedding Guest Integration Program and the current budget proposal. In conjunction with these meetings, we will be launching a public realtions campiagn that will inform our constiuents on who we are and where to go. This campaign will make use of the newspaper, flyers, and a pamphlet that we are calling "The Program."
Over the next few months, we will be facing many challenges. The rocky relationship that we have with the nations of "Chiropractic School" and "Work Travel" will prove to be our biggest challenge, but we are confidant that we will come to an accord with them so we can work together as peaceful allies. Together, we WILL be successful.

Orlando Christmas
Happy New Year, all! Hope everyone had a Happy Holiday. Maggie and I spent the week of Christmas (Maggie up until Christmas Eve) down in Florida with my family at our condo (part of a time share). The main reason: it was my nephew Ethan's first trip to Disney World. Maggie, my mom, and I flew done to Orlando on the Thurs. before Chirstmas and spent the night at a Springhill Suites near the convention center.
Friday morning, we drove done to Clearwater to meet up with my brother and his family at our cousin's office. We all went for lunch at a local pizza place and Ethan got to take his first ride in a sports car. He had a huge smile when he got back to the office. Unfortunately, we had to leave so we could head back to Orlando to check into the condo. This was also the first time Maggie had met two of my cousins and seen Clearwater. I know she wanted to see more of Clearwater, but we ran out of time. I'm sure we'll be back.
On Saturday, Maggie and I went with my brother and his family to Seaworld while my mom stayed behind to wait for my aunt and my other brother to arrive. This was one of the parks that Ethan wanted to do while he was down there. It was pretty chilly most of the day and the park wasn't as exciting as we had hoped. We got to see the dolphin and whale show and, of course, Shamu, but we were all a bit disappointed with the Shamu show. The first 20 minutes of the 30 minute show was spent showcasing the other killer whales while the storyline with the built-in PSA. Shamu showed up for the last 5 minutes of the show and he primarily tossed water at the crowd. We were thinking we would be done there by about 1or 2pm but didn't end up leaving there until about 4pm.
Sunday was a REALLY long and tiring day at the Magic Kingdom. I can sum up the park that
day in one word: CROWDED. We knew that the week of Christmas was a peak time for the Disney Parks, but dang. Surprisingly the lines weren't too horribly long but the fact that people were either being pushy or in the way made the day somewhat stressful. Plus the fact that our pace was slowed by the sensory overload of a 6-year-old and my aunt who has had a knee replacement and is starting to deterioate slightly with age didn't help out either. I think one of the biggest frustrations was that Maggie and I were hoping to have more time to ourselves that day, with it being Maggie's first time to Disney World, also and with her leaving early. In any case, it was a fun day and ended up with Maggie carrying my tired little nephew, who passed out on her shoulder before we even got to the tram to take us to the cars. Out of all the chaos that was the Magic Kingdom that day, that was the most memorable moment of the whole trip for Maggie. And, yes, Ethan's father (my brother, Jeff) had to make the "glimpse into the future" comment. I don't have a picture of this yet, but once I get it, I will try and post it.
Monday was spent shopping at Downtown Disney for presents (had to take Maggie to the airport mid-morning) and then a not-so-pretty 9-hole round of golf for Jeff and me. That night, Ethan went to bed early but not before setting out cookies and a Diet Coke for Santa and reindeer food (quaker oats with glitter mixed in) for the reindeer.
On Christmas day, we opened presents at the condo in the morning (the kid raked it in!) and drove down to Clearwater to spend the rest of the day at my cousin's. We got there about lunch time. When it comes to cooking for multiple people, my cousin doesn't do anything small as you can tell by the picture below.
And this was just lunch. We then took Ethan to the beach for a couple of hours and came back for dinner which was about as big as lunch.
Ethan wanted to build a snowman, but since there is no snow, he built a sandman instead.
Weds. was another shopping, golf, and relax day. Thursday was spent at Epcot Center. This wasn't on Ethan's have to see list but after his mom, Renee, told him what it was, he was interested in going. Well, that interest rapidly disappeared by about noon. We were all so exhausted from the whole week that we were just walking around the park and not really doing any of the rides, which I think is why Ethan got bored so quickly...he'll probably appreciate Epcot more when he's a bit older. Even then, we didn't get out of there until about 5pm. It was a really warm day and the park was just as crowded as the Magic Kingdom, if not worse. We went back to the condo, ate dinner there, and just packed and relaxed the rest fo the night.
It was a long, exhausting vacation but it was very fun. In the end, though, we were all glad to come home despite the snow on the ground.

Damn City
We came home from the UMKC vs. WSU basketball game tonight to find my yard "hurt". This fall, after 4 tries of tilling it up and starting over, the yard was finally looking presentable. Now we have a snowplow mark...

Decisions, Decisions
Another decision down. We finally picked our hotel for our honeymoon. Well, one of our hotels. The one that had been driving us crazy. When we go to Hawaii, we will spend 4 nights in Oahu in Honolulu, and then we will spend 7 nights in Kauai. In Kauai, we are staying at a timeshare that we were able to exchange (Ka 'Eo Kai). The nights in Oahu, we had been tossing back and forth about 6 different options. And mulling over it for the last 7 months.
Yesterday afternoon, we finally decided we needed someone to make the decision for us. So we went into AAA. And, after talking to them about the hotels we had looked at, they priced them out for us and we could finally make a decision...we are going to stay at the Hyatt Waikiki.
It looks like we are going to be hit by an ice storm. We hear everything on the weather channel saying that it will be not that bad, just a little cloudy, to the idea that it will be a throwback to the ice storm of 2002 (which knocked power out in parts of the city for more than 2 weeks. I wouldn't know...I was still in Louisiana at the time...) If we do get a heavy storm, I will take pictures and post them!

Roxie's New Favorite Thing
As promised, here are a few of the pictures of my wonderful pup...and her new favorite spot to lay...UNDER the Christmas tree. Now last year, she left the tree alone.
Of course this year, my 70-lb. pup thinks that it is the best place in the house to sleep...
