Damn City

We came home from the UMKC vs. WSU basketball game tonight to find my yard "hurt". This fall, after 4 tries of tilling it up and starting over, the yard was finally looking presentable. Now we have a snowplow mark...

That thing in the middle of the street is a chunk of my yard...

Decisions, Decisions

Another decision down. We finally picked our hotel for our honeymoon. Well, one of our hotels. The one that had been driving us crazy. When we go to Hawaii, we will spend 4 nights in Oahu in Honolulu, and then we will spend 7 nights in Kauai. In Kauai, we are staying at a timeshare that we were able to exchange (Ka 'Eo Kai). The nights in Oahu, we had been tossing back and forth about 6 different options. And mulling over it for the last 7 months.

Yesterday afternoon, we finally decided we needed someone to make the decision for us. So we went into AAA. And, after talking to them about the hotels we had looked at, they priced them out for us and we could finally make a decision...we are going to stay at the Hyatt Waikiki.

It looks like we are going to be hit by an ice storm. We hear everything on the weather channel saying that it will be not that bad, just a little cloudy, to the idea that it will be a throwback to the ice storm of 2002 (which knocked power out in parts of the city for more than 2 weeks. I wouldn't know...I was still in Louisiana at the time...) If we do get a heavy storm, I will take pictures and post them!

Roxie's New Favorite Thing

As promised, here are a few of the pictures of my wonderful pup...and her new favorite spot to lay...UNDER the Christmas tree.

Now last year, she left the tree alone.

Of course this year, my 70-lb. pup thinks that it is the best place in the house to sleep...

Strange Excitement

I have been told that I need to update our blog more often. I am really not good about it, although I will work to get better.

The random excitement for the day wasn't actually for me, but more for my parents. This morning we were watching the news and suddenly there was talk of a police chase through there neighborhood. To see more information about it, go here http://www.kmbc.com/news/14713167/detail.html

When I talked to mom, she said that there were three helicopters overhead and when she left for work, she was made sure to check the gates to make sure that the people in the car didn't try to hide in their backyard. (Now I will just need to remember to check the gates the next time we are over so Roxie doesn't escape...)

Speaking of Roxie...She had a little obsession with the Christmas tree last night. I will post more pictures from home tonight...

New York City Day 4

We started off the morning going to the Today's show, where we were once again successful at getting on TV. After that, we followed up the morning exploring Greenwich Village, the West Village, heading over to Brooklyn (across the river to check out the view of the city), back to Chinatown and Little Italy (where we at at the famous Rice to Riches rice pudding restaurant), before heading back to the theater district for another play. Oh yeah...and it rained all afternoon. New York is difficult to manuver through when umbrellas are involved.

New York City Day 3

Today we started off the day with Good Morning America...We then went to a few stores in Times Square and then headed off to the financial district to see the progress at Ground Zero and to see the Federal Reserve Building. We are resting briefly in our hotel room before heading to go see Chorus Line tonight.

New York City Day 2

A rainy day in New York sent us inside for as much of the day as possible. We started in Grand Central Station, then headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. By that time in the afternoon, the rain was more of a drizzle, so we went to Bryant Park and to the New York Library.
Make sure to set your DVR's tomorrow to catch Good Morning America, and on Friday for the Today's show...(we plan to try to get on both)

New York City Day 1

Melissa and I made it to New York City around 11, and we were at the hotel close to noon...After grabbing a quick bite to eat, we hopped on the subway and headed uptown to explore more of the Upper West side, Central Park, the UN, Rockefeller Center and Times Square before calling it an early night (we are exhausted!)

This is at the entrance to the Natural History Museum.

This is at the ice rink at Rockefeller Center...Notice the amount of water that they were sweeping off...I would guess that they were getting working on getting the water off for 20 minutes or so. It was about 80 degrees out in the city...
